Popular/Best Hardwood Floor Cleaners

Recently upgraded to some cozy, new hardwood floors? Or maybe you’re looking for a way to maintain the current ones you have now— you’re probably considering using something a little more nature-friendly that will not be so intensive to the surface. Cleaning many different homes over time has given us considerable feedback as to what products customers trust best for their floors. Here are some popular options (in no particular order) we often come across with:

Method Squirt & Mop Floor Cleaner

Method is known for their famously branded “biodegradable” products which are shown to be safe for surfaces. Just as it states in the name, there’s no need to dilute with any water, just simply apply it directly to the surface and give it a good spread with a mop. There’s an easing almondy smell to it and isn’t nearly as intense as some of the other floor cleaners out there. Methods’ cleaner is safe for waxed surfaces, leaving no residue or greasy layers after application. This product dry’s nicely leaving your floors clean and smelling amazing.

Ecover Natural Plant-Based Lindseed Floor Soap

Another great natural floor cleaner here. Be sure to dilute with water before using (probably a more economical option, will most likely last you for more cleanings). It’s very light on surfaces and has a pleasant smell to it. Another safe option that many choose to use for their floors.

Murphy’s Oil Soap Wood Cleaner

Probably one of the more popular brands available, this product works great with furniture also. It leaves a detailed, finish after that most will appreciate. Be sure to dilute considerably, using too much can leave an oily coat. I like to test a small amount first and increase the quantity if necessary. It’s biodegradable, and a safe option for laminate flooring.

Black Diamond Wood Floor Cleaner

Last, another reliable product we often use. A safe, lightly scented cleaner that does a satisfying job without putting any harsh chemicals on your floors. No need to dilute (although for a more efficient cleaning we still recommend it). If you do decide to use the product as is, it is highly recommended to use first on a small area and see how it reacts before spreading onto the entire floor.

BONUS Hint:

For best results and safest cleaning technique, consider using a micro fiber mop for your hardwood and laminate floor cleanings. It works great because it won’t leave too much water afterward and should dry relatively quicking (15-20 minutes), not doing any harm to the floors.
